Joel Ayayi hopes to convince the Grizzlies

With just seven games played and two small points scored with the Wizards in the 2021/22 season, Joel Ayayi clearly has yet to find his place in the NBA. He was also signed by the Lakers and the Magic, before being cut, without playing.

This summer, the French tried to revive by playing the Summer League, that of Salt Lake City then that of Las Vegas, with the Grizzlies. Hoping to land a new contract.

“I think that, like everyone here, we hope for a two-way contract or a classic contract”, does he recognize for Spokesman.“I’m in the same boat as everyone else, trying to grab a contract. We hope for a chance, a window of opportunity. You have to take that opportunity when it comes and I just want to ride the wave until something comes along. »

In six summer league games with the Grizzlies, Joel Ayayi averaged 4.1 points in 13 minutes.

And his summer is not limited to matches in the United States since he was called up by Vincent Collet to be part of a group of five players who will be the training partners of the selected players for the World Cup.

“It’s obvious that I love playing with the national team,” he confides. “I participated in a few youth teams when I was at Gonzaga, so I feel like it’s a continuation. They continued to follow me when I was abroad, so it’s a pleasure to see that they thought of me for this group. »
