World Cup 2023 | Georgia led by Sandro Mamukelashvili and Goga Bitadze

Like Latvia, Cape Verde and South Sudan, the Georgia will take part this year for the very first time in a world Cup (August 25 – September 10). For the occasion, coach Ilias Zouros has selected his best elements in his pre-selectionto know Sandro Mamukelashvili (Spurs), Goga Bitadze (Magic) and of course Tornike Shengelia (ex-Nets, ex-Bulls), the local star.

The 15 other players on this pre-list, which will then have to be reduced to 12 names, are Rati Andronikashvili, Beka Bekauri, Mikheil Berishvili, Merab Bokolishvili, Kakhaber Jintcharadze, Giorgi Korsantia, Levan Gogichaishvili, Nikoloz Gaprindashvili, Luka Liklikadze, Duda Sanadze, Giorgi Tsintsadze, Giorgi Turdziladze and Davit Kakushadze. Another local hero, Giorgi Shermadini is also there, as is the naturalized Thaddus McFadden.

As a reminder, Georgia will be in pool F in Okinawa (Japan) with Slovenia, Venezuela and Cape Verde. If she finishes in one of the first two places, she will then cross with the group of Australia, Germany, Finland and Japan in the second round, to hope to join the 1/4 finals of the competition.
