Victor Wembanyama opens up about incident with Britney Spears

Just arrived on American soil, and as he prepares to play his first match with the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama finds himself on the front page of the sulphurous site TMZ ! The reason ? The security manager slapped Britney Spears as she approached the Frenchman, presumably to ask her for a selfie.

This incident took place on Wednesday near a restaurant, and Wembanyama gave his version of the facts.

“Something happened on my way to the restaurant with some team security”, Wembanyama said. “We were in the hall. There were a lot of people, and people were calling me, of course. There was a person calling me, but security told me not to stop in the middle of people. This person called me ‘Sir, Sir’ and grabbed me from behind. I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and didn’t stop. This person grabbed me from behind – not on my shoulder, they grabbed me from behind. I just know that security pushed her away. I don’t know how hard, but security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look, I was able to come in and enjoy a nice dinner”.

“I thought it was a joke, but it turned out to be Britney Spears”

It was only later, on returning to the hotel, that Wemby learned that it was… Britney Spears who simply wanted to greet him and pose with him.

“I didn’t know anything for a few hours, but when I got back to the hotel […], I thought it was not much, that there was no problem. I thought it was no big deal, then Spurs security told me it was Britney Spears. At first I thought it was a joke, but it turned out to be Britney Spears. I didn’t even see his face. I just kept walking straight. »

For her part, Spears expressed herself on social networks, and she regretted that this affair came out in the press. “It’s embarrassing to share this with everyone, but since it’s already been released…” she wrote on Instagram. “I just touched him on the shoulder, and a security guy slapped me without looking at me, in front of everyone. He almost knocked me down, and I lost my glasses. I have not received a public apology from the player, security or the franchise. I hope they do… I myself am accosted all the time by people, and never have my security guys hit anyone. It’s important that people in the media treat everyone with respect. »

Quoted by LA Timesthe Las Vegas police, called by the Spears camp, took the deposition of the singer and opened an investigation.
