Draymond Green and the Warriors have reached an agreement that satisfies everyone

Draymond Green hoped to be a lifetime Warrior and Golden State wanted to keep the inside. The two camps were therefore made for each other and this was the case since the quadruple champion signed a contract of 100 million dollars for the next four seasons.

And when we go into the details of the agreement, which is given by The Athleticwe notice that everyone finds his account.

The player already obviously. He is now under contract until 2027, with the last year (2026/2027) optional, which he may or may not activate. The date of 2026 is not innocent: it coincides with the end of Stephen Curry’s contract. Draymond Green, who will then be 36, could therefore leave the ship at the same time as the MVP of the 2022 Finals.

43 million savings in taxes for the Warriors!

The franchise, too, is not unhappy. Steve Kerr has said it over and over again: without Draymond Green, the Warriors are no longer title contenders.

Here they are reassured, with the presence of the defender of the year 2017 for, at least, another three seasons.

In addition, the first year of this new deal will start at 22.3 million dollars according to our colleagues. A good calculation for Golden State because Draymond Green has, remember, refused to activate his last year of contract at 27.6 million. This 5.3 million difference makes all the difference for the finances of the franchise. The Warriors will indeed save $43 million in taxes!

Not a small feat when we know that we will soon have to look at the extension of Klay Thompson and that the last year of Chris Paul’s contract, in 2024/25, is not guaranteed. The 2022 champions have therefore managed to give themselves financial air and flexibility, which was far from obvious a few weeks ago, when Jordan Poole was still in the group.
