With seven players under contract before Friday night, the Suns still had half their team to compose. There is therefore no doubt that they were going to be active from the opening of the “free agency” in order to surround Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant and Deandre Ayton, without forgetting Cameron Payne, Ishmail Wainright and Isaiah Todd.
Phoenix has thus extended Josh Okogie and Damion Lee for two seasons, even if no details have filtered on the contracts.
Then four signatures have been recorded. Keita Bates-Diop arrives for two seasons and $5 million. Drew Eubanks signs two years, with the second optional. Chimezie Metu commits to one year only. Finally, Yuta Watanabe finds Kevin Durant, but no information on his contract has been communicated.
We can obviously imagine that, each time, the Suns signed the players for a minimum salary, which is around 2.5 million dollars per year.
Phoenix now has 13 players under contract, and therefore still two places available in the workforce. Will Phoenix succeed in keeping Jock Landale and/or Bismack Biyombo, both unprotected free agents?
