Wolves seek Mike Conley understudy

As the free agency prepares to open its doors on Friday evening, Minnesota has already begun to move its pawns. After securing Naz Reid, then dropping Taurean Prince, Wolves intend to continue to adjust their workforce for next season. One of the priorities of the franchise would be to find a replacement point guard this summer, in order to relieve Mike Conley at the lead.

According to The Athletic, Wolves had entered into discussions with the Wizards on the possibility of acquiring Monte Morris or Delon Wright in exchange for Taurean Prince. Negotiations fell through as Washington was not interested in the Minnesota winger, who has since been cut.

No doubt the capital franchise preferred to get future Draft picks, but after the exchange of Rudy Gobert in 2022, Minnesota has little more to give from this point of view.

Mike Conley too lonely?

If Wolves went in search of a playmaker, it was because Mike Conley lacked support after his arrival. Interesting usually, Jordan McLaughlin never returned to his season, torn by calf problems. His qualities are not in question, but the Wolves probably want a less fragile lining to blow Mike Conley, who will be 36 at the end of the season.

On the transfer market, good leaders are available, such as Jevon Carter, Reggie Jackson or even Cory Joseph and Raul Neto. Dennis Schröder, also a free agent, seems too expensive.
