The Raptors draw in NCAA to complete the staff of Darko Rajakovic

New coach, and therefore new staff next season at TorontoOr Darko Rajakovic, according to ESPNis joined by a Serbian compatriot, Ivo Simovicwho therefore joins Pat Delany and Jama Mahlalela, previously stung at the Wizards and Warriors.

The two Serbian coaches have known each other for a long time since they had officiated together, between 2001 and 2007, at the head of the hope team of the Red Star of Belgrade. Installed for good in the “coaching” in the United States in 2015, after two freelances in the staff of the Spurs in the Summer League in 2013 and 2014, Ivo Simovic has since known only the NCAA with assistant positions. First in Hartford between 2015 and 2017, then in Charlotte between 2017 and 2018, Loyola Maryland between 2018 and 2022 and finally UCLA this season.

At the Bruins, he notably played a central role in the recruitment of young Frenchman Ilane Fibleuil, and more broadly in the development of players, a central axis of Darko Rajakovic’s projects for the Raptors.

At the start of the school year, we imagine that he will keep similar responsibilities, but this time in the NBA, where he finds Darko Rajakovic who is about to start his very first experience as a “head coach” in the United States. A choice which must certainly “reassure” the Serbian coach, and which confirms that Nick Nurse’s staff should be completely replaced.
