A few weeks ago, Aaron Judge hurt his toe. During a game against the Dodgers in California, the outfielder came into contact with a fence.
Result? He went on the injured list.
But what we learn today is that his injury is more serious than we thought. After all, the Yankees captain didn’t just have toe pain: he suffered a torn ligament.
Right now, the Judge has pain when he walks. Not when he runs or when he strikes: when he walks.
Currently, everyone refuses to establish a timetable (publicly, at least) in relation to the whole situation.
That said, we can think that a return before August is unlikely. Don’t expect it at the Star Match, we’ll tell each other.
But the worst is when you read between the lines of manager Aaron Boone. The manager said he expects to see him again this season, but he doesn’t want to guarantee it.
He may say that “it is not said about anyone”, but to hear that in June from the Yankees employee, it’s … phew.
Remember that even if the #99 played all season last year (his contract year), the $360 million outfielder has a history of injuries. Here’s another one in his collection.
His start to the season was magical, on par with that of 2022. If he doesn’t come back or if he takes a long time to come back, it will be a long time in the Bronx, where the roster is a lot less threatening without him.
Will Brian Cashman have to pay to get reinforcements at the deadline? I think so. Unless you trust DJ LeMahieu or Josh Donaldson… #Joke
In the short term, the big man will just have to try to deal with the pain. From there, he will see what he needs to do to get back into the game. I have a feeling he will get there, but in what physical form?
