Cincinnati vibrates to the rhythm of Elly de la Cruz

Arrived in the Majors just 15 games ago, Elly de la Cruz is already a sensation in Cincinnati and he is no stranger to the Reds’ recent successes which resulted in a series of 12 consecutive victories.

Yesterday, against the Atlanta Braves, the 21-year-old Dominican had a carousel helping his team to take the measure of visitors from Georgia by the score of 11-10.

The feat became the first of its kind in the past 34 years for a Reds player and many of the team’s supporters celebrated the feat.

For his part, veteran Joey Votto also put his two cents in by hitting not one, but two home runs while producing a total of four runs during this offensive festival. The Reds’ hitters showed rare opportunism by scoring their 11 runs on just nine hits.

On the side of the Braves, several players put the ball in play to finally end the evening with 16 hits (including five long balls) and 10 points on the scoreboard.

Since his recall, de la Cruz has batted .361 and has continued to impress in all facets of his game. to say a very talented athlete, spectacular and who likes to have the spotlight on him.

The de la Cruz – Votto duo demonstrates how special the Reds’ season is. A green rookie and a veteran returning from injury who add their efforts to a group of players on a mission since the start of the 2023 campaign.

The Reds sit atop their division with their irresistible streak, provoking a sense of elation among their supporters who have experienced many frustrations over the years.

Speaking of the Central division of the National, there are many funny things happening there since the beginning of the season. The incredible odyssey of the Reds, coupled with the defeat of the Cardinals and the start of the Pirates cannon that the planets are not aligned as usual. Even the Cubs are practically playing for a .500 record. The Brewers are watching the whole movement with worried eyes, trying to come up with answers from the comfort (or not) of their second-row seat.

The new rules introduced by Major League Baseball have an undeniable effect on improving the quality of the show, but all this will never replace the innocence and the desire to win of a young person like Elly de la Cruz.
