Despite Mike Trout’s (big) slump, the Angels win

Life is sometimes ironic. For what?

Because for years, Mike Trout may have been the best ball player on the planet, but his club still couldn’t win.

Remember that he has not made the playoffs since 2014.

But there, even though he may be having the worst month of his major league baseball career, the Angels are just winning. The club has 10 wins in its last 12 games.

Trout didn’t play one of those games, but still: he’s not in top form right now. He has just five hits in his last 11 games.

In June, he has six hits and a .122 average.

I don’t know what explains Trout’s bad streak. Maybe he’s hurt, but in any case, he’s not completely confident.

At least Shohei Ohtani is – especially offensively.

For Mike Trout, whose important thing is to win baseball games and make the playoffs, he can console himself by saying that at least his team is winning games and managing to place well in the standings.

As of this morning, the Angels are no game behind the Yankees, who are currently in a position to make the playoffs.

Since they have one more win and one more loss, their winning percentage is lower, which explains the composition of the leaderboard.

But never mind, the Angels are in a position to fight for the playoffs… and this, without the Trout being in top form.

It’s good for Trout, it’s good for the club… and it’s good for the fans who want to see Ohtani perform in October and consider staying in town long term.

Can the club keep up the pace? That remains to be seen.
