Bryce Harper has never had his tongue in his pocket. The Phillies player, when he is questioned on a subject, says what he thinks.
We saw that recently when he said the A’s shouldn’t move to Vegas. According to him, the club belongs to Oakland.
He believes fans in green deserve better from their club, which should focus on success in Oakland instead of looking to leave.
Unfortunately for him, the club is well and truly on his way out.
All that to say that he thinks a franchise in Vegas might struggle to sell tickets, especially because of the sense of belonging.
It’s a sentiment many people have had for Vegas clubs, but the success is good so far, let’s face it.
Asked if he might be interested in finishing his Vegas career with the A’s, he said he didn’t want to know about leaving the Phillies.
He wants to “die in a Phillies uniform,” he said. It’s normal.
He had no choice but to say that, but he doesn’t seem, in the end, very excited by the presence of the A’s in Vegas. I have a feeling he’s sadder for Oakland than happy for Vegas.
Maybe an expansion process wouldn’t have had the same effect?
