Kyrie Irving is expected to participate in the Drew League this summer

Free agent in a few days, Kyrie Irving expects a very eventful summer when he will have to make an important decision regarding his future. Nevertheless, the Dallas Mavericks star was present in Los Angeles for the first weekend of the famous Drew League.

Founded in 1973, the Drew League, held annually in Los Angeles, is one of the most popular summer “Pro-Am” leagues (which includes professional and amateur basketball players) in the country. Over the years, its notoriety has continued to grow, and many NBA players come to it regularly. Last summer, stars such as Trae Young, Demar DeRozan and LeBron James set it on fire.

But here it is, while he was talking with Chaniel Smiley, boss of the Drew League, Kyrie Irving formalized his participation in the 2023 edition: “I will play this year. I hope you know that. It’s time for Uncle Drew to come to the Drew League” did he declare.

The 2016 NBA champion should therefore take part for the first time. As a reminder, he was already supposed to participate last year, but he canceled his visit at the last moment. But with his arsenal of feints and dribbles, Kyrie Irving has what it takes to ignite the floors of the Los Angeles summer league.
