3×3 World Cup | Americans dethrone France

There will not be a second consecutive world title for the French women in the 3×3 World Cup. Sunday, in Vienna (Austria), the Blues, with Laetitia Guapo, Myriam Djekoundade, Hortense Limouzin and Marie-Eve Paget, fell on a more realistic and efficient American formation, which won 16-12.

The French, who ran after the score, will notably be able to regret their 0/12 at 2-points while opposite, the irremovable Cierra Burdick (seen at Asvel last season) scored 7 points at 3/3 in shooting and 4/6 in free throws.

” It’s incredible. Last year, I was very disappointed with our performance in the World Cup. I don’t even want to talk about last year. I’m so happy to be here, to bounce back like this, with this staff, with this team.”, declared the 2014 world champion who had therefore taken part in the sad 7th place of the Americans last season.

Revenge at the Olympics?

Team USA did not go far from the double as the boys for their part failed in the final against Serbia (21-19) despite the 10 points of former NBA player Jimmer Fredette, who teamed with Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox and Dylan Travis.

“The experience has been incredible. We had a great tournament. We were where we wanted to be. We can only continue to progress”said Jimmer Fredette.

Team USA’s goal is now to shine at the Paris Olympics in 2024, an event for which only the two teams from France are officially qualified for the moment, as the organizing country.
