Mike Budenholzer and Nick Nurse on the shelves of the Suns

A few hours after the announcement of Monty Williams’ dismissal, DTT delivers the first names on the “short list” of Suns leaders. New owner of the franchise, Mat Ishbia would be the only one at the helm to appoint his successor and if Marc Stein had mentioned Tyronn Lue as a potential lead, our colleagues cite three technicians available.

First there is Kevin Young, Williams’ right-hand man at the Suns for three years. His name is regularly mentioned with each vacancy, and this season he met the Rockets, who preferred Ime Udoka to him. He has the advantage of knowing the group, the franchise, and of being probably much cheaper than the other two candidates.

Because it is about two references of the trade, Mike Budenholzer and Nick Nurse. NBA champions respectively with the Bucks and the Raptors, they have just been cut. The first is a “child of Popovich”, and he shone at the Hawks and then at the Bucks. This is arguably the best trainer available on the market.

The second has only known the Raptors in the NBA, but he was NBA champion in his first year, then he proved that he could get the best out of his workforce despite departures and injuries. But this season, without playoffs, has tarnished his rating, and he had already announced that he wanted to take stock of his career during the summer.

Besides the Suns, the Bucks, Raptors and Pistons are looking for a coach.
