Luka Doncic will pay for the funeral of the victims of the Belgrade massacre

The foundation Luka Doncic announced yesterday that the “franchise player” of the Mavericks was going to help the families of the victims of the Belgrade massacre, which occurred in the Vladislav Ribnikar school on Wednesday, via financial participation.

Luka Doncic will indeed take care of the funerals of the nine deceased, among whom there are eight children. The Slovenian will also cover the costs of setting up the psychological unit which will work to support classmates and school staff after this terrible tragedy.

“I am heartbroken by the tragic shooting at a school in Serbia and by the lives lost, including those of innocent school children. My thoughts are with the families and the entire community affected by this tragedy.”, said the Mavericks player in a press release. “Through my foundation, I am looking for immediate and long-term ways to support students, faculty and families affected by the shooting at Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School. I am committed and will continue to share updates and ways to support as details become available. »

Other NBA players could join Luka Doncic, and we are thinking in particular of Serbian players like Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic or Aleksej Pokusevski.

Slovenian international Luka Doncic has close ties with the Serbian capital, where his grandmother, aunt and uncle still live. His father, Sasa Doncic, is also from Serbia.
