A few months ago, Liam Hendriks announced that he had cancer. So he took a baseball break to receive treatment.
Today, he is in remission, which is great news. After all, it is the most important.
By chatting with the media, we realized that he had an excellent attitude. After all, instead of moping around, he accepted the challenge with his head held high.
And in the end, he removed the cancer on takes.
The pitcher is therefore a few outings in the minors from being able to return to Chicago (within a club that badly needs it) and regain his place as closer.
Will it do good for the morale of the group? Certainly. Will this translate into concrete results? That remains to be seen.
That said, I don’t see how this could not be the case.
Imagine not giving it your all when you find out that the guy sitting next to you in the locker room may have kicked off with cancer in 2022 – because yes, Hendriks raised the possibility.
If the guys aren’t able to play better once the relief pitcher returns to the bullpen, I don’t see what will motivate him.
I can’t wait, for several reasons, to see him on the ballpark again, anyway.
