The Tampa Bay Rays are playing quality baseball this season. The team sits atop MLB with a record of 20 wins and five losses.
Yet the Rays are still among the worst assists in major league baseball (24th to be exact), with an average close to 17,000 spectators per match. Still quite disappointing for a team that plays such good baseball.
Glimmer of hope
A new craze may be making itself felt in Tampa. The organization has announced that it will open the upper balcony for its series against the New York Yankees from May 5-7.
This will be the first time the 300 section of the stadium will be open for a regular season game, following its closure in 2018.
It’s a historic and exciting start to the season for the team’s 25th anniversary. The excitement and enthusiasm of fans continues to grow in the Tampa Bay area.
– Bill Walsh (Rays Business Manager)
The carrying capacity of Too is currently 25,025 places. Although the exact number is not disclosed, the Rays organization confirms that the opening of the upper stadium will provide thousands of additional seats to the public.
Will Rays fans be the most cheering for their team this series?
Allow me to doubt it. The visit of Bronx Bombers is in my opinion the main reason for the opening of the upper balcony, contrary to what is claimed by the marketing team of the Rays.
Regardless, it will be a very interesting series to follow. The American East standings are tighter than ever. All clashes between teams in this division are likely to be quite high in intensity.
