The Marlins will have to address their shortcoming in the outfield

The Miami Marlins haven’t had a bad start to the season so far, posting a record of 12 wins against 13 losses. This places them third in the National League East Division.

However, if the Florida squad wants to take it to the next level, it will have to address its shortcoming in the outfield.

Is that even if the trade bringing Luis Arraez with the Marlins allowed to move Jazz Chisholm Jr. to center field, it is not enough.

Indeed, veterans Jorge Soler and Avisail Garcia are not the solution on the outfield corners and youngsters Bryan De La Cruz and Jesus Sanchez have not yet taken their course.

Defensively, there is room for improvement, but that’s not where the problem lies. It’s more on the other side of the ball, on the offensive side of the force.

A minor league recall could be considered, but the lack of contact hitters among Marlins prospects isn’t helping the cause.

So if the Marlins want to stay in the running for the next few months, despite their difficult schedule, they will have to look to the trade market to get their hands on a veteran outfielder who can fill that gap or a younger with a few more years of control. In this case, another launcher could be sacrificed.
