This is reported by South China Morning Post, which relies on sources close to the Chinese federation. According to this daily, the Wolves winger should be naturalized Chinese in time for the World Cup which takes place in Asia.
Forfeited for tonight’s Game 5 against the Nuggets, Anderson began the naturalization process last year, and he would meet one of the criteria required by the federation since his maternal grandmother was born in Jamaica from a Chinese father and a Jamaican mother. His great-grandfather moved to the United States with his family, and Anderson was born in New York in 1993.
His name is Li Kaier in China
Five years ago, along with his mother, Anderson traveled to China, and discovered that his ancestor was from Xinmu New Village in Longgang, Shenzhen Province. While there, Anderson was given a Chinese name – Li Kaier – by his then 70-year-old cousin Li Tianping, who entered it into the family tree book.
Like the other qualifiers, China will know their opponents on April 29 with the draw scheduled for the Philippines.
