After his unfortunate domestic incident which cost him five stitches at the end of last week, Jaylen Brown is in a delicate situation to attack the playoffs since he must play with a strap on the damaged fingers of his right hand. Nothing to prevent him from playing this Game 1 and Jaylen Brown rose to the occasion by scoring 29 points on 12/23 shooting to go with 12 rebounds.
What to turn the page and put a definitive end to this story? Not yet since the back / winger saw his cut reopen during the game. “It opened during the match, but it’s good now”, did he slip after the encounter, assuring him that he shouldn’t need any more stitches. ” It should be fine. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
A generally successful first outing
After stealing a ball on his first action of the game, we saw him put his strap back on several times at the start of the game and then finally return to the locker room at the end of the first quarter to change his bandage.
After that, he scored 23 of his 29 points including a massive two-handed dunk five minutes into the second quarter to dispel any doubts.
“I thought his shot selection was good, and that he set his intentions defensively”pointed out Joe Mazzulla, while Jayson Tatum also highlighted his aggressiveness. “He looked fine and played well”completed the winger.
Jaylen Brown’s first “post-cut” outing was therefore a success, even if his six lost balls made him ruminate, because his bandage handicapped him more in handling the ball than the rest.
“It’s a constant adjustment, to make sure I have a good grip on the ball. I absolutely have to take care of it.”added JB. “I had to readjust my bandage several times during a match. There’s not a lot of padding, so it’s a different feeling when I’m shooting. But the pain is not a problem. Especially with the adrenaline of the match, you let yourself be carried away”.
