Yesterday, Édouard Julien played his first match in the Majors. The Quebecer did not put the ball in a safe place, but he still put his eye at bat to good use by drawing a base on walks.
But above all, he managed to reach the Majors surrounded by his family. Under the circumstances, it’s quite impressive since of Quebecers in major league baseball, there is only one right now.
Even though he didn’t finish yesterday’s game, the Twins clearly want to see what their hopes have in store. That’s why he made the trip to New York to face the Yankees.
And there, a great opportunity awaits him: he will strike at the forefront of the offensive order.
This means that he will be ahead of Carlos Correa, who will return to shortstop after back pain slowed him down, and ahead of Byron Buxton. The latter will be the DH and he will play despite the fact that yesterday he suffered heavy contact on the trails.
So it’s quite a challenge for the Twins’ second base player.
Recall that yesterday, he hit eighth in the offensive order.
To see him hit in the front row of the offensive order is natural since he is a machine to go on the cushions. It’s going to be good for the two stars following him in the lineup.
Seeing a local guy get in position to turn double play balls with Carlos Correa and help him produce runs is good for baseball here.
Hope it works well.
