McDonald’s All American | DJ Wagner carries East to victory against West of Isaiah Collier and Bronny James

Really interesting game at the Toyota Center in Houston. The 2023 edition of McDonald’s All American thus gave rise to a real opposition between East and West, tight to the end.

The best high school students in the country also bore for some of them surnames already known to basketball fans since we thus found Bronny James, the son of LeBron, but also Andrej Stojakovic, the son of Peja, or even DJ Wagner , Dajuan’s son and Milt’s grandson. The third generation to participate in the game!

The future Kentucky player was also named co-MVP of the game because he was valuable in the return of the East (109-106), scoring his 19 points in the second half.

DJ Wagner thus ensured on the line of free throws, also displaying his qualities as a scorer in one-on-one. Opposite, the other star point guard of this age group, Isaiah Collier, certainly scored 25 points to be elected co-MVP, but the future USC player was clumsy on the free throw line, with a 5/12 in the end and especially a 0/2 with 13 seconds remaining, when he had the opportunity to put his team in the lead again, at 106-107…

As for Bronny James, he has shown to be more of a fullback than a playmaker, with his left hand limiting him quite a bit. Nevertheless, with his defensive instincts, his physical qualities and his ability to punish from afar (15 points at 5/8 at 3-pointers in the end), he has what it takes to be a quality “3&D”, especially as he progresses to eye sight.

In the front row, the “King” was in any case extremely proud to celebrate the baskets of his eldest.
