In a week to the day, the MLB season will take off. For the occasion, the Cardinals will receive a visit from the Blue Jays.
Adam Wainwright was to be the pitcher for the occasion, but ultimately, it will not be him who will be the official for his team in the context of his last career season.
For what? Because during his stint with the United States as part of the World Classic, he injured his groin and he has to stop throwing for the time being.
So that means that we can potentially expect to see the pitcher not pitching for the Cards for about a month – taking fitness into account.
We don’t know who will replace him.
The pitcher did very well during his time at the World Classic, but during a practice in the Americans’ training hall, he hurt his groin.
It happened just before the final, but he wasn’t supposed to pitch in the final anyway.
So even if he was injured at the Classic, we will agree that he could have been injured at his team’s camp as well. It’s not really attributable to the Classic, in my opinion.
Yes, he gave more to the Classic, but an injury could have occurred in the Pamplemousses.
But because he was injured in the Classic, expect to see insurance reimburse the Cardinals. It’s already that, isn’t it?
So that will put a dent in the rotation of the Cardinals, who will have to fight the Brewers (mostly) in the division in 2023.
Let’s hope he’s back soon for his Major League Baseball farewell tour. We want to see him say goodbye with dignity this season, after all.
