In a crucial game in the race for the playoffs for both teams, it was the Wolves who walked on the Hawks (136-115). Anthony Edwards led the dance as often with 32 points, but another wolf stood out: Kyle Anderson. The latter had a full game, with his third career triple-double: 14 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.
“I don’t really play trying to get stats or anything like that. It happened, that’s all” soberly declared Kyle Anderson about his triple-double.
Despite his atypical style of play, Kyle Anderson is more “valuable” than we imagine. If he is nicknamed “Slow-Mo” for his slow execution, everything he does on the floor seems fair and intelligent. When the Hawks attempted the start of a “comeback” during the 3rd quarter by going back below the 15-point gap, it was he who put the basket or made the decisive pass which shattered each time the hopes of Trae Young and his gang.
“He has always been precious to us” recalled Wolves manager Chris Finch. “He doesn’t make a triple-double every night, but he’s so important to everything we do, whether it’s rebounding, creating or scoring. We were happy for him. His teammates like him and so do we, because he’s been important all season.”.
The 29-year-old has been particularly successful in passing lately, averaging 6.7 assists in his last 9 matches. It is also the second consecutive game where he exceeds the bar of 10 assists, after his 11 offerings against the Nets in the previous meeting.
“I think I can still do that in the league” concluded Kyle Andersonwho notably finds Rudy Gobert very well (48 assists). “That’s what I’ve always done throughout my career. I was told I wouldn’t be able to make it in the NBA and here I am. If given the opportunity, I will respond.”.
