It is obviously the season of contract extensions for young players.
After all, in the last 24 hours, Keibert Ruiz signed a $50 million contract with the Washington Nationals. The club, in fact, bought him three years of autonomy.
And now the Diamondbacks have imitated the Nationals.
Corbin Carroll, soon to become a star in Major League Baseball, has signed an eight-year contract valued at $111 million. A team option year ($23M) is also included in 2021.
In doing so, he becomes the youngest drafted player to sign a contract worth more than $100 million, which is no small feat. It’s a great achievement… for the DBacks.
The one who is the favorite for the title of rookie of the year in the National is an outfielder who should change the dynamics of his team in 2023.
The outfielder can play in all three fields, which provides flexibility for his club. He’s also left-handed, which helps everyone.
