Jacob deGrom is in pain and his camp is delayed… due to the weather in Arizona

Let’s go.

Even before his first session in the bullpen at the official Texas Rangers training camp, Jacob deGrom felt discomfort that forced his new team to drop him.

According to GM Chris Young, the right-handed pitcher pitched a few days ago, before camp started, and he felt pain in his left side.

The DG therefore decided to keep him away for 24 or 48 hours out of an excess of prevention… in particular because it is cold in Arizona and the weather conditions are not optimal, especially on the ground, which is wet.

The GM says it was really his decision and that deGrom wanted to start, he who has already done a few sessions in the bullpen in recent weeks. But as a precaution in the circumstances, the boss postponed the next session.

What precaution? The guy launched in New York, where it’s not exactly 30 degrees in April.

The way I look at it, I feel like Rangers are hiding something and the GM is taking it upon himself to put it down for fear of announcing anything else. Is it crazy to think that the pitcher could have injured himself in the last days, even if it’s nothing serious?

Remember that when he is healthy, Jacob deGrom is the best pitcher in major league baseball. However, he is not often healthy.

The Rangers’ challenge will obviously be to keep him healthy.

Remember that he signed a contract that will guarantee him at least $185 million over the next five seasons. The time will be long if he is often injured.

  • Max Scherzer holds Jacob deGrom in high regard.
  • Alex Cora does not plan to read the Astros scandal book.
  • Don Mattingly helps Vladimir Guerrero Jr. practice at first base. That’s good.
  • Rafael Devers loves hockey.
  • Bud Black is in Colorado to stay.
