Steve Cohen believes some MLB owners should look in the mirror

No matter the topic, New York Mets owner Steve Cohen is always making a lot of noise.

And the fact that he spent lavishly this winter only amplifies the phenomenon. For some, it even reminds them of the prowess of George Steinbrenner, when he propelled the New York Yankees to great heights.

But the main interested party is not worried about the comparisons. He wants to do things his way.

George seemed larger than life and passionate about baseball. He brought a lot of life and made baseball interesting. And he did it his way. I will do it my way. I don’t know if I make baseball interesting.

Two years after buying the Mets for $2.4 billion, Cohen is causing a stir among MLB team owners, sometimes for good, often for bad. However, he believes that many of them should look in the mirror.

I heard what everyone heard: that they are not happy with me. Maybe they need to look at themselves more.

Cohen is absolutely right. He wants to get a good product out in the field, and if that’s not what some owners are aiming for, they may not be in the right place. MLB would be much better off if a few of them were rampant in another area.
