Alejandro Kirk will represent Mexico at the World Baseball Classic

The World Baseball Classic is just around the corner, adding to an already busy March of MLB spring camp. No more baseball, we never complain about it!

Currently, the formations are fine-tuning their respective alignments. And this is the case for the Mexico team, which through its general manager, announced that the receiver of the Toronto Blue Jays, Alejandro Kirk, will be part of the adventure.

A split of starts between the number two position and that of the hitter of choice is to be expected for Kirk.

The Tijuana native is coming off an excellent season with Toronto, receiving an All-Star Game nomination last July and allowing Ross Atkins to sacrifice Gabriel Moreno to address the Jays’ shortcomings.

Player lists for the Classic don’t have to be officially submitted until February 7, but as far as Mexico is concerned, we know that in addition to Kirk, the names of Randy Arozarena, Luis González, Isaac Paredes, Ramón Urías and Alex Verdugo have already been added.

Kirk and his compatriots will face Canada, Colombia and the United States in the preliminary round in Phoenix, Arizona.
