Blue Jays to sign Brandon Belt

The Toronto Blue Jays have decided to add depth in left-handed hitting.

According to what circulates, the veteran Brandon Belt will sign a one-year contract with the club of the City-Queen. This should be announced tomorrow.

Belt is an experienced player. He will add depth, he who is exclusively a first base player.

You understand that he is not there to steal Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s place. He should have his turn as the hitter of choice and as a replacement at first base. He should have his chances as a pinch hitter as a left-hander and he will earn $9.3 million.

He won the World Series twice with the Giants, the only club he played for in his career, and he hits from the left.

Obviously, his average of .213 last year and his 23 RBI in 78 games are nothing to impress. That said, maybe he will relaunch himself in a specific role as a deep guy… and now that his knee is healthy.
