Titans: regular season over for Ryan Tannehill, uncertainty for the playoffs

The Titans are now hot on the heels of the Jaguars in the race for the division title, and they will have to try to keep their lead without their starting quarterback.

ESPN announces that Ryan Tannehill has had ankle surgery to treat a sprained ligament. He shouldn’t be able to play for the rest of the regular season. Our colleagues even argue that it is unlikely that he can play in the playoffs if Tennessee managed to qualify for the finals.

While they have just lost four games in a row, the Titans must therefore turn to Malik Willis. The rookie has already started twice this year, a win over the Texans and a loss to the Chiefs. His team had each time bet massively on the run, since he had thrown only 10 passes (6 completions, 55 yards, 1 int) against Houston and 16 (5 completions, 80 yards) in the duel with Kansas City.

Tennessee must play Houston, Dallas and Jacksonville to complete the regular season.
