Winner of the Wizards, the Jazz clings to the leading car

Like the conference-leading Nuggets, six Western teams have 19 wins, and among them is the Jazz. Back home after a “road trip” of three games in the East, Lauri Markkanen’s teammates continue with a second win in a row by winning 120-112 against the Wizards. A long victory to take shape since the teams spent three quarters to crossover (11 draws, 23 changes of leader). It is finally Collin Sexton who will change the match.

Back on the pitch after treating his thigh, the former Cavalier scored 5 points in 11 seconds, including a “buzzer beater” at the end of the 3rd quarter (93-90) then Nickeil Alexander-Walker followed suit. to conclude a 13-0 straddling the two quarters. In two minutes, the Jazz just knocked out the Wizards. Opposite, only Bradley Beal scores points (12 in a row!) But he runs out and the Jazz, by Jordan Clarkson and Malik Beasley, drives the point home to bring the gap to +15 (119-104).

At the start of “money time”, mass is said, and Will Hardy opens his bench and Utah finally wins 120-112. A simple boost will have sufficed.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The comeback of Collin Sexton. With 18 points in 17 minutes at 6 of 7 on shots, the 6th man from the Jazz is making a remarkable comeback. Especially since it was he who tipped the match at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Offshore defense. The Wizards have not made too much effort to stick their opponents wide. Adroit from afar (46%), Sexton and his teammates often took their 3-pointers without much challenge.

TOPS/FLOPS

✅ The Sexton / Beasley duo. We are not far from the perfect match for this duo, and we will remember their complicity to respond to Beal in the 4th quarter. Difficult to find more effective as a tandem of substitutes throughout the NBA: 43 points in 42 minutes on 15 of 24 on shots with a +/- of +30 in cumulative. Beasley also brings a defensive dimension with four of the Jazz’s five interceptions.

✅ Bradley Beal. He made others play first before taking matters into his own hands. He tried everything at the start of the 4th quarter to pick up the score, but he lacked support.

Will Barton. He’s the ghost of the player he was in Denver. He no longer brings that spark in attack, and as he does not defend, his coach limits his passages on the ground.
