Gary Sanchez is recovering from his time with the Yankees

Gary Sanchez spent the first seven seasons of his career with the New York Yankees. Then, the team traded him to the Minnesota Twins after two tough seasons for the 30-year-old. In 2022, Sanchez has quietly recovered, batting for .205, with 61 RBIs. In 2020 and 2021, he batted for .187, and a total of 78 RBIs in 166 games.

According to his agent, Francisco Marquez, the difference between the 2022 Sanchez and the 2021 Sanchez is that he was finally able to shed the emotional baggage of his time with the New York Yankees.

Gary Sanchez is currently a free agent after spending just one season in Minnesota. But his agent believes that the team that takes the chance to sign Sanchez will benefit from the rebirth of this player.

If his agent mentions that Sanchez left New York with negative emotional baggage, it’s because Sanchez had a tough time in the Big Apple. He had great seasons early in his career, including 2017 and 2019 when he received invitations to the All-Star Game.

Afterwards, he started to have more difficult times, offensively and defensively. Unsurprisingly, Yankees fans started booing him. It’s not easy mentally when your own followers boo you. It doesn’t help confidence.

Those tough times continued into the playoffs in 2020, not appearing in the Yankees’ playoff games or in the 2021 second-best game. It was after the playoffs that Sanchez was traded. Probably good news for the receiver.

We can’t say that he has completely recovered in 2022, but he is on the right path. He regains confidence, and it is for this reason that his agent believes in his ability to regain his best statistics next season. All the same, for the moment, Sanchez has not found a team. It is to be seen if a team will try the experiment.
