MLB in brief: Kyle Gibson in Baltimore | Yankees want Brandon Nimmo

Right-hander Kyle Gibson and the Baltimore Orioles are in agreement on a contract, pending physical, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

The Orioles have targeted pitching this winter, and the 35-year-old Gibson is the first domino. They should be in play for other arms.

Yankees are believed on the list of teams to visit on Brandon Nimmo. Fit is somewhat curious though, unless the unthinkable happens and Judge leaves. Giants, Rays, Jays and of course Mets thought involved.

As the Rangers look to build around Jacob deGrom, they could explore a deal with the Mets for James McCann, a veteran catcher widely known to be available. McCann is owed $24 million over the next two years, and the Mets could shed at least some of that salary.
