NCAA | Jerry Stackhouse violently attacks the referees and is logically expelled!

Player, we sometimes knew him to be volcanic and explosive in his role as a licensed scorer, especially with the Sixers, the Pistons or the Mavs. Coach, Jerry Stackhouse has (unfortunately for him) retained some habits from his previous career in his relationship with the refereeing corps.

Last night, in the defeat of his team against VCU (70-65), the coach of Vanderbilt freaked out, being expelled for two technical faults, retained first by several members of his own staff after strong invectives against the referees, then directly escorted to the locker rooms by the police department in place!

The reason for his ire? After a “facial” dunk from insider Liam Robbins who celebrated his gesture by slapping his hand on the head, which has become commonplace on courts around the world, Jerry Stackhouse did not appreciate the officials whistling at all technical error…

“It was a badly refereed game and [les officiels] must do better than that. »

As Vanderbilt came back to -3 on that dunk, VCU inherited six free throws that put it up 12-2 to seal the win. Under tension in a more than sluggish start to the season, with three wins for four losses, Jerry Stackhouse did not help his people on this one!

“I found that this game was badly officiated overall. We have a team that plays tirelessly and we end up with 20 shots, against 37 for the opponent., reacted Jerry Stackhouse after the game. “Players can sometimes gesture and celebrate an important action, it’s part of the game. I don’t think [cette faute technique] on [Robbins] was justified, especially at this point in the game. I’m proud of our guys who fought well in a tough environment but I still think we didn’t cause our loss. It was a badly officiated game and [les officiels] must do better than that. »

Hired by the Commodores in 2019, Coach Stack had managed to lead his team to a positive record last season (19-17) but his overall record after three seasons is not really glorious at 42-58… We can expect to deeper NCAA sanctions for Vanderbilt’s head coach.
