Days pass and Jae Crowder still hasn’t left Phoenix. Still, there was no shortage of suitors for the 32-year-old power forward, with the Bucks, Heat and Hawks all interested in his services.
The problem is that the Suns do not just want to get rid of their former holder: they want to receive an interesting consideration in return to help them in their quest for the title, starting this season. Without however recovering a big contract, and it is perhaps what blocks for the negotiations around John Collins.
According to the Bleacher Report, the Rockets would be of particular interest to the Suns, with Kenyon Martin Jr. and Eric Gordon. Can they get them against Dario Saric with Jae Crowder, plus a draft pick or two?
Multiple teams involved?
Another track mentioned: the Warriors. Golden State’s “double timeline” strategy clearly shows its limits, with veterans who don’t have many seasons left in them and young people who must play to develop. So far, the Bay franchise has refused to transfer James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, but the club may have to deal with it in order to have a real chance of achieving the double.
As Steve Kerr said, his group is at the end of the race anyway and choices will have to be made next summer. Bringing in Jae Crowder, who is a free agent at the end of the season, to try to snatch a final title, is therefore not impossible. Even if it would be a real change of course in the Warriors’ strategy.
As for the other leaders, we also think that several teams could be involved in the exchange, so that it works. It remains to be seen how long Jae Crowder will still have to wait…
