With only 72 games played over the last four seasons, John Wall is a fragile player. So don’t count on the Clippers getting carried away with the hype that has surrounded his rather successful comeback so far. In the last two games, against Utah and Golden State, Tyronn Lue did not hesitate to leave him on the bench for almost the entire fourth quarter.
The reasons have undoubtedly been different from one match to another, but the fact remains that John Wall has not exceeded 25 minutes of play for ten days. In the post-match press conference, the leader thus had difficulty in hiding his disappointment. He acknowledges that the record of his last two games had not been good, while saying he was ready to accept any restrictions from his coach.
“(Against Utah) the guys found a rhythm and we ended up winning the game, so that’s fine. Then tonight (against Golden State) he benched us all, I think the game was already out of control.did he declare. “It’s all part of a plan they have for us and like I said, whatever these guys choose, I’m all for them.”
No precipitation
As he had done with Robert Covington, abandoned in favor of Terance Mann in recent weeks, Tyronn Lue did not fail to stroke John Wall in the direction of the hair to keep him under pressure.
“We just have to take into account that he hasn’t played for two years and as good as he is with us, it’s only his 13th or 14th game in two years. It will take some time. We are aware of this and he is playing much better than I expected from him at the start of the season. dropped the Clippers coach.
On the other hand, the more John Wall plays, the more chances he will have of finding cardio, his feelings and his best level. For now, out of the question for the player to go to the clash. His return to the top level is a long process, and he therefore lines up behind his coach’s choices without flinching.
“It’s frustrating but like I said, it’s part of the plan, the program they have in place for me, so I’m all for it. Also, I don’t think people expected me to be this good from the start. I also think I have demonstrated that the more playing time I have, the better my game gets.
