What precocity records for Victor Wembanyama?

The Metropolitans 92 consolidated their second place in the Betclic Elite standings on Friday evening by taking over Limoges CSP (78-69). A victory that the Ile-de-France residents owe in large part to the best career match of Victor Wembanyama : 33 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 41 rating.

The future number 1 in the NBA Draft flew over the meeting, and we are taking advantage of the 15-day international break to take stock of his formidable start to the season.

His 33 points place him in second place in the ranking of the best performances of players under 19 years old. Just behind Sekou Doumbouya who had scored 34 points with Limoges in 2019. At 18, in 2001, Tony Parker had scored 32 points against Antibes.

With 41 evaluation, it is also second in terms of “precocity”. Only Antoine Rigaudeau did better, in 1990, when he had accumulated 25 points and 15 assists with Cholet against Dijon for 43 evaluation.

Number 1 in the evaluation

It is therefore with his 12 rebounds that “Wemby” goes down in history: no player under 19 had done better so far. The old record (11) belonged to two former French NBA players: Ian Mahinmi (twice) and Damien Inglis. Note that Victor Wembanyama is already the author of 7 of the 10 best performances of all time in LNB for a player under 19 in rebounds!

This season, after seven games, he is the number 1 of the Betclic Elite in counters and evaluation, 2nd in rebounds and 3rd in points with 21.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks for 24.9 evaluation. In its wake, Boulogne-Levallois is second in the standings (6 wins – 1 loss), behind Monaco (7 wins – 0 loss).
