Not really suspense this night between the Celtics, the Raptors and therefore the Rockets, who in turn cut up the Spurs for their entry into the matter in 2022. While we could wait for Jalen Green or Kevin Porter Jr, these are the two rookies Tari Eason and Jabari Smith Jr (21 points each) who did well on the Houston side, well supported by the Christopher-Gordon-Sengun trio (15, 13 and 13 points).
The locals took the match by the right end, with the help of an inspired Eric Gordon and a clinical Alperen Sengun (30-17). Despite the reaction of Devin Vassell (13 points) and Jakob Poeltl (9 points, 10 rebounds), Houston did not let go and consolidated its lead before the break. Jalen Green found Josh Christopher in the air on the counterattack, and Jabari Smith Jr helped get things going again. Like Daishen Nix’s basket, scored from his half of the field at the halftime buzzer (62-37), nothing could happen to the Rockets!
Houston kept up the pressure on the way back from the locker room, with Jabari Smith Jr to widen the gap a little more, despite an interesting passage from Jeremy Sochan. With 30 points in the bag 10 minutes from the end (105-75), San Antonio drank the cup to the end in a final punctuated by Boban Marjanovic’s first basket and the Christopher-Washington show for a 134- 96 on arrival.
