The Blue Jays will face the Mariners (in Toronto) to start the playoffs

Since the night of Monday to Tuesday, we know that the Blue Jays were going to be officially able to host playoff games this weekend.

It was unclear, however, if the Mariners or the Rays were going to be the visitors. The odds were swirling around the Mariners and now it’s confirmed: the Washington State club will start its playoffs in Canada. Luis Castillo and Alek Manoah will be on the mound in two days.

Robbie Ray must be happy to see that the vaccine restrictions at the border have fallen…

The Rays’ loss and the Mariners’ victory (which notably came via a game-winning hit by Abraham Toro against the Tigers) confirmed the standings.

From Friday to Saturday or Sunday, the Guardians will host the Rays in a 2-of-3 series. The Blue Jays will do the same against the Mariners.

The winner of the series in Ontario will face, in a big 3-of-5 division series, the Houston Astros, holders of the best record of the American. The Yankees will wait for the result of the series in Ohio.

This means that tomorrow, all the matches mean nothing for the clubs of the American.

Eliminated clubs can’t make the playoffs (but they can lose and try to draft better next summer…) and the top six clubs in the league can’t move.

Will Aaron Judge, who hit his 62nd home run last night, go for the Triple Crown or for the rest? He hits for .311 while Luis Arraez is at .315

The Blue Jays, due to rain in Baltimore yesterday, will have to play two games today, which is not ideal.

The season will therefore end tomorrow and on Friday the playoffs will begin.

Until then, we invite you to follow Passion MLB to set the table for the playoffs. We also invite you to listen to our LIVE Facebook Thursday at 7 p.m. to come and ask us your questions for the fall dance in baseball.

  • The Astros, starting with five innings from Justin Verlander, went within an inning of a no-no.
  • Aaron Judge is happy to have hit his 62nd homer. So he can move on.
  • And one for Francisco Alvarez.
  • Nice feat for the Yankees pitcher … and it’s another record in New York, casually.
