[Fantasy] week 2: the advent of Gabriel Davis?

It’s the return of the Fantasy section on Touchdown News, every Saturday find our tips, our favorites, and the pitfalls to avoid.

The first matchups have given their verdict and it’s already time to bounce back for those who started with a loss.

The absents

After the first week, no major injuries came to end the fantasy season prematurely. A few packages are however to be deplored for this 2nd match. Dak Prescott will miss several matches which should complicate the life of the managers who had bet on him for several weeks.

Still deprived of DeAndre Hopkins suspended for several more weeks, Kyler Murray will also have to do without Rondale Moore and Andy Isabella. Absent in week 1, Allen Lazard still embarrassed at the ankle could once again miss Aaron Rodgers. In New York, the Jets are still without Zach Wilson while the neighbors of the Giants will be without rookie Wan’Dale Robinson.

Quarterbacks

The safe bet: Matt Stafford. Defeated in the first week, the defending champions will react against the always average defense of the Falcons. Very well surrounded, Stafford has the perfect opportunity to revive by distributing touchdowns.
The bet: Carson Wentz. In the wake of his successful first week, Wentz can take advantage of his trio of receivers to take over the still fragile Lions backfield. Enough to rain yards and points.
Avoid: Tom Brady. We may have 7 rings, we can have pet peeves. Since arriving in Florida, Brady has been muzzled by the Saints. With two outings within 5 points, the risk of fiasco is real.

Running back

The safe bet: Ezekiel Elliott. Deprived of his quarterback, the role of Elliot should (re) become major in the attack of the Cowboys. Even by sharing carries with Pollard, his workload will allow him to increase his stats sheet.
The bet: Jeff Wilson. With Eli Mitchell out, Wilson becomes the number one runner for the 49ers. And in this role, he has always been present in the Shanahan system with a double-digit fantasy score 6 times out of 7.
Avoid: David Montgomery. Facing the Packers at home and vengeful after their failed start, Montgomery could have a bad night against a front seven from Green Bay full of promise.

Receivers

The safe bet: Gabriel Davis. In the spotlight in the playoffs, Davis confirmed that he had become a major weapon in the Bills’ aerial attack. More than just a number 2, he is a favorite target of Josh Allen. The reception of the Titans and its young cornerbacks should once again benefit him.
The bet: DJ Chark. Targeted 8 times in week one, the former Jaguar has integrated well in Detroit. Faced with the cornerbacks of the Commanders, he could have more room to transform these balls thrown into balls caught and into yards.
Avoid: Kenny Golladay. Transparent since his arrival in New York, it is not the awakening of Saquon Barkley that should allow him to regain his former importance. With Daniel Jones to kick off the leather, it could be a very long season for Golladay.

Tight-end

The safe bet: Pat Freiermuth. Mitch Trubisky’s safety valve, the 2nd year tight end immediately showed his understanding with his new quarterback. Taking advantage of the activity of the receivers, he should once again be largely involved.
The bet: OJ Howard. Two receptions, two touchdowns. Successful start for Howard in his new colors. If the connection with Mills worked perfectly in the red zone, the role of the former Bucc can take on thickness from the move to Denver.
Avoid: Austin Hooper. After traumatizing the Rams’ aerial attack, there’s no reason the Bills can’t face as much in Tennessee. The Titans’ safe haven could then be the race and Hooper confined to creating breaches for Derrick Henry.

The Griz’League

First week and first victory for our national Grizou. Antoine made the difference on his justified confidence in the ghost Michael Thomas and a found Saquon Barkley. The reigning champion Romain begins his season as he finished the last one leaving no chance to his opponent. His duo Jefferson Kelce was just unplayable.

Alain won without forcing thanks to a homogeneous performance from his squad and taking advantage of Dak Prescott’s injury to his opponent Brice. Led by Jalen Hurts, Tiffany got the better of Xavier handicapped by the Packers’ defense and a Mike Williams forgotten by Herbert. Despite hyper productive receivers, Victor bows to Mathieu and his runners. In the game of the dunces (in terms of scoring), Marc gets the better of Gregory, overwhelmed by the poor performance of his receivers.
