A week ago, we reported the strong possibility of seeing the young and talented Druw Jones go first at the next amateur auction.
His father, Andruw, a former Major League player, is reacting to the possibility that his son could one day follow in his footsteps and has no doubts about the youngster’s potential.
Andruw Jones had a brilliant 17 season career on the big circuit, mainly in the uniform of the Atlanta Braves, between 1996 and 2007. He also spent two additional years in Japan.
Still waiting for a place in the Hall of Fame, the fact remains that he was a player who marked his sport and his time in his own way.
With the Braves, Jones was a machine. In Georgia, he won 10 consecutive Golden Gloves while averaging 34 home runs and 103 RBIs.
According to the father, the one and only way to be successful at a very high level of competition is to have fun every day and this is exactly the advice he gives to his son who will play , in 2022, the most important season of his young career.
Remember that for the moment, Druw Jones would be the number one choice of the 2022 draft and he would not be the only son of former Major League players.
In addition to having the talent, it is reasonable to believe that Druw also has the confidence and character that forge the greats, as evidenced by this sequence:
Jones Sr. is now a special assistant in baseball operations with the Braves. He who has cherished success for most of his career is even knowing what it takes to get there.
He doesn’t really know the caliber of baseball in which his son Druw played until very recently, but his first campaign in the university ranks should tell him more about him.
What Andruw has noticed above all is his son’s attitude and behavior and that’s what he likes.
Ever since he was young, Druw Jones has thought of himself as his father’s former teammate, Edgar Renteria. Let’s bet now that in a few years, thousands of young people will take the young Jones as a model.
