Celtics take a long time to clear Pistons

In this game scheduled for the early afternoon in Detroit, so that Little Caesars Arena could then be changed to accommodate the ice hockey game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Celtics took their revenge (113-104) on the Pistons, who had beaten them before the All-Star Break.

A success that took a very long time to take shape for the troop of Ime Udoka, who took time to find rhythm, and who owes this success to Payton Pritchard, author of 19 points and 6 assists off the bench.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– Cade Cunningham’s foul issues. The first choice of the last Draft has the art of sneaking into defenses and taking his time to punish his opponents. There is really Brandon Roy in his game and he proved it again with 25 points at 11/19 shooting and 7 rebounds… except that he could only play 27 minutes, because of the faults which forced Dwane Casey to preserve it as much as possible and which helped Boston a lot.

– The expulsion of Hamidou Diallo. While his teammate had to juggle fouls, the young Pistons winger was sent off for pushing a referee on an action.

– The energy of Payton Pritchard. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown tried to carry the attack of the Celtics but this one clearly lacked rhythm and madness. Fortunately, Payton Pritchard had a hot hand off the bench, to score 19 points and deliver 6 assists to turn the game around.

TOPS/FLOPS

Payton Pritchard. If Boston is in good shape, it is mainly thanks to its defense, the attack being still under construction. Sometimes the Celtics lack rhythm and they need a spark. Tonight, it came from Payton Pritchard, author of 17 of his 19 points in the second half.

Jerami Grant. Sad game for the Michigan winger, who compiled 11 points with a horrible 3/15 shooting including 0/6 from 3-pointers. Not effective in a role of “spot-up shooter” which is clearly not his strong point, and much too discreet in all the other compartments of the game, he clearly missed his match.
