Bruce Arians (Buccaneers): “Blaine Gabbert has never had such a good team”

Since the retirement of legend Tom Brady, all speculation is allowed as to the identity of the future Buccaneers pitcher. And if most of the leads lead to Kyle Trask, drafted last year, or to the signing of a free quarterback like Marcus Mariota or Teddy Bridgewater, there is a third option that Bruce Arians is keen to put forward: veteran Blaine Gabbert, replacing Brady last season. The coach spoke in the columns of the Tampa Bay Times on Thursday.

“People don’t like his record (note: 13 wins for 35 losses as a starter), but Blaine had eight head coaches and eight different offensive coordinators in his first eight years in the league. He beat Jacksonville in their best year, he beat Tennessee when he was playing for me in Arizona. He is now used to the system. I have no problem starting him and letting Kyle Trask get tough. Blaine Gabbert has never had such a good team. He is respected in the locker room. ”

At 32, however, it seems unlikely that Gabbert is the solution of the future for Tampa Bay.
