Kevin Durant has definitely turned the page on the “Big Three” he formed with Kyrie Irving and James Harden, taking great care to snub the latter, his former teammate who had just transferred to Philadelphia, from Team Durant for the next All-Star Game.
The Brooklyn star also took the opportunity to speak about the new face of these Nets who recovered Ben Simmons, Seth Curry and Andre Drummond in the transaction.
“I am very happy for our team. I can’t wait to end the season with this new group and these new players. The playoffs are coming very quickly so we have to speed up the process to get used to each other, but I’m excited.”, declared two-time NBA Finals MVP (2017, 2018).
A new season begins
Asked about the strengths of his team in terms of the qualities brought by a Ben Simmons compared to James Harden, KD highlighted the versatility of his new group, which will also recover one of the best shooters in the league with Seth Curry, and an anchor at post 5 with Andre Drummond.
” It’s a good question. I feel like we have versatile players so we have to find what works for us, but I’m just happy we have guys who want to be part of it all.”he added, while Ben Simmons called him to tell him of all his motivation.
A new rivalry may have arisen between the two teams this season. The last duels between Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid had been particularly tense and this “blockbuster deal” is now spicing it all up.
This promises for the next confrontation between the Sixers and the Nets, in a month in Philadelphia. Ben Simmons’ welcome will be worth the trip!
