Monty Williams validates his presence at the All-Star Game | NBA

With the success snatched in the last hectometres against the Spurs, the Suns simply become the first team in the League to reach the symbolic milestone of 40 wins this season, for only 9 defeats. This success guarantees the presence of Monty Williams and his staff for the next star-studded weekend in Cleveland, on February 20.

It will be a first for the technician stationed in Arizona since the 2019/20 season. He thus succeeds Mike D’Antoni, the last coach of the Suns to have had this honor in 2007.

It had become a “mini objective” for the players of Phoenix, here it is achieved: “During the season which is long, there is nothing wrong with setting small objectives, small benchmarks. I’m just happy for Monty and for our staff, ”said Chris Paul.

It’s a huge chance to be able to represent a franchise, the city, the team and my family. I am aware of the sacrifices of everyone so that I can be in this position. It’s a team effort, that’s for sure “, greeted the coach, who will officiate with LeBron James and the players chosen by the latter.

In the East, we do not yet know the identity of the coach who will take control of the selection mounted by Kevin Durant. At the head of the conference with their respective formations, Erik Spoelstra and Billy Donovan hold the rope for the moment. Third in the conference with the 76ers, Doc Rivers is automatically out of the race since he was on the bench for the previous edition.
