Duane Washington Jr. will certainly remember this evening in Louisiana for a long time. Although the Pacers lost on the floor of the Pelicans, after an intense and contested game, the rookie guard shone. In 23 minutes off the bench, he compiled 21 points, all scored behind the 3-point line.
That’s seven award-winning shots scored, which is the new record in franchise history for a rookie! The previous record, set at six shots behind the arc, was co-held by Chuck Person during the 1986/87 season (elected rookie of the year this season), and especially by his teammate, the other rookie Chris Duarte.
” I knew Chris [Duarte] equaled the record earlier in the year. Tonight I didn’t realize I broke the record” declared the player to the Indy Star. ” I’m very grateful, but I’m still going to tickle Chris, I’m going to tease him.“

Undrafted last summer after three seasons at Ohio State University, Duane Washington Jr. signed a “two-way contract” with the Pacers afterwards and Derek Fisher’s nephew therefore shared his time, this season, between the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the G-League, and the Pacers in the NBA.
Very little used by Rick Carlisle in the first part of the season, he is currently recovering playing time with all the absences, to show that he can be part of the club’s project in the medium and long term?
